AFP.- El Congreso de Perú destituyó en la madrugada de este viernes a la presidenta Dina Boluarte, tras aprobar pocas horas antes un juicio político por la severa crisis de inseguridad que atraviesa el país.
Boluarte fue removida del cargo que ejercía desde diciembre de 2022 con 118 votos de los 122 parlamentarios presentes en la sesión.
«En consecuencia ha sido aprobada la vacancia de la presidenta de la República», anunció en una maratónica sesión el jefe del Congreso, José Jerí, quien asumirá el cargo ante la ausencia de un vicepresidente.
Frente al Parlamento, varias personas celebraron con banderas del país y carteles en contra de la mandataria de 63 años, quien se rehusó a ejercer su derecho a la defensa.
Boluarte estaba citada ante el Congreso a partir de las 23H30 locales (04H30 GMT del viernes), según la resolución aprobada por el plenario, pero no se presentó.
Desde 2016, Perú ha tenido seis presidentes: dos destituidos por el Congreso; dos que renunciaron antes de correr la misma suerte, uno que completó su mandato interino y Boluarte, que llegó luego del frustrado intento de Pedro Castillo de disolver el Congreso.
