Cinco muertos en un ataque israelí en Beirut contra el jefe de Estado Mayor de Hezbolá
El ataque es el quinto contra este bastión de Hezbolá en la capital desde el alto el fuego entre Israel y el movimiento islamista que entró en vigor en noviembre de 2024.
AFP.- Israel anunció el domingo un ataque dirigido contra el jefe de Estado Mayor de Hezbolá en el sur de Beirut, que dejó al menos cinco muertos y 28 heridos, según las autoridades libanesas.
El ataque es el quinto contra este bastión de Hezbolá en la capital desde el alto el fuego entre Israel y el movimiento islamista que entró en vigor en noviembre de 2024.
El bombardeo en esta zona densamente poblada alcanzó el tercer y cuarto piso de un edificio de nueve plantas, donde acudieron ambulancias y socorristas, según un periodista de AFP.
Hezbolá confirmó que una de sus «personalidades» era el objetivo del ataque, sin precisar su identidad ni si había muerto.
El presidente libanés Joseph Aoun llamó a la comunidad internacional a «intervenir seriamente y con fuerza para poner fin a los ataques contra Líbano» de Israel.
La oficina del primer ministro israelí Benjamin Netanyahu anunció un ataque «en el corazón de Beirut, al jefe de Estado Mayor de Hezbolá que dirigió el fortalecimiento y el armamento de la organización terrorista«.
Horas antes Netanyahu había advertido que Israel hará «todo lo que sea necesario» para impedir un fortalecimiento de Hezbolá en Líbano y del movimiento palestino Hamás en la Franja de Gaza. «Continuamos golpeando el terrorismo en varios frentes«, declaró durante una reunión de su gabinete.
Israel ha intensificado recientemente sus ataques en los bastiones de Hezbolá en el sur y el este de Líbano, donde afirma tener como objetivo al movimiento chiita al que acusa de violar el alto el fuego rearmándose y reactivando sus infraestructuras.
Las autoridades libanesas, por su parte, acusan a Israel de violar el acuerdo de alto el fuego concluido bajo mediación estadounidense por seguir atacando su territorio y ocupando cinco puntos estratégicos del sur del territorio libanés.
